Cesc Fabregas wants full-time role for Spain

Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabgreas remains unrepentant after reacting angrily to being substituted during Spain's World Cup qualifying win over Bosnia-Herzegovina - insisting that were he to ever lose that passion he would leave the game.
Fabregas stunned both team-mates and the opposition when he vented his obvious frustrations at being withdrawn during the 1-0 victory, despite having set up the only goal of the game, scored by David Villa.

The European champions' new manager, Vincente del Bosque, replaced Fabregas with Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso just after the hour mark with Spain already leading.

In 33 appearances for his country, the 21-year-old has lasted the distance just five times, though Fabregas dismissed the idea that his anger was anything other than a natural reaction by a committed and passionate sportsman.

"The day they replace me and I'm not angry I will leave football," said Fabregas.

"It's normal that you think like that when you've been taken off.

"It's not a lack of respect for anybody for not wanting to be a better player every day. The most important thing is that we won and that we've started the qualification phase with three points.

"It was not easy and we had it tough to break down their defence, but we did it.

"They always substitute me when we are winning. This suggests that I need to be better in defence to be a more complete midfielder.

"I want to improve, to be a complete midfielder and show to everyone that I can play in both positions, as much in attack as in defence."
